It’s time to rediscover an Almighty original song!

The New Year has brought some STUNNING NEW MIXES from the incredible MATT POP!! We’re so exciting to be sharing more of Matt’s mixes and oh boy!, he never disappoints!! When we thought about re-loading this Almighty classic…it was a no brainer…we were straight on the phone to Matt Pop! 

In 1996, Almighty released Obsession’s original song, ‘Anytime’ – written and produced by Martyn Norris, Bob Mitchell, Phil Radford and Jon Dixon in the Almighty Studios. With some strong competition of other popular Almighty releases around this time, Anytime certainly did not disappoint and became a great seller for Obsession. The catchy chorus lyrics, falsetto vocal samples and choppy synths helped to make this song stand out.

It was originally released on 12” Vinyl and CD single, which included the 7” Radio Mix, Definitive Mix, Trinity Mix and Euro Mix. There was also a promotional 12” vinyl pressed afterwards, which included the further remixes; Illusive’s Bangin’ Mix, Mr Smiles Full On Vocal Mix and an edited Euro Mix.

Now in January 2023, we have compiled a comprehensive mix package which includes the above mixes, PLUS the BRAND NEW mixes from MATT POP!! We have also included some previously UNRELEASED mixes found in the Almighty vaults!

Speaking of the Almighty vaults… in order to compile this single from the original masters, which are stored on DAT format, there were in total, 98 different recordings of ‘Anytime’ that we found! This included different mixdown variants (before the final mix was chosen), vocal files, instrumentals, backing tracks, etc…and yes…we did have to play all of these 98 recordings through from start to finish at Almighty HQ in real-time, in order to get the mixes off the DATs!! 

Whilst doing this, unfortunately we found that the (only) DAT with the master of the Mr Smiles Full On Vocal Mix, has errors in the audio, meaning it could not be included in this mix package. This mix will therefore have to stay exclusive to the 12” promo vinyl!

The new mixes to feature on this digital single include, of course, the MATT POP mixes, as well as Traditional Euro mixes and Trance mixes, which we believe have never been released before, neither has an instrumental ever been available.
