'Careless Whisper' was the 1984 smash hit single from pop sensation George Michael, which features that unmistakeable saxophone riff we all associate with the 80s star! Although his fellow Wham! band member, Andrew Ridgeley, co-wrote the song and it featured on the Number 1 Wham! album 'Make it Big', 'Careless Whisper' was in fact George Michael's first solo single after leaving the band. 

The iconic ballad was an instant hit around the world, topping the charts in Australia, Japan, the UK and US, and it has since been covered by the likes of Julio Iglesias, Barry Manilow and Gloria Gaynor, as well as Almighty's very own Sarah Washington in 1993!

The music video has tugged at the heart strings of fans worldwide over the years, showing the guilt felt by a man over an affair and his acknowledgement that his partner was always going to find out - and controversially in 2012, American model and actress Brooke Shields claimed that she thought the song was written for her after she and Michael ended their relationship - ooh, scandalous!

George Michael is making an almighty comeback this year with a brand new album in the pipeline and a sterling performance at the London 2012 Olympic closing ceremony under his belt, so we thought what better time to revive a George classic than now!
