'Mad World' is a 1982 song by the British band Tears For Fears. Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith, it was the band's third single release and first chart hit, reaching Number 3 in the UK Singles Charts.

'Mad World' has since been covered by various artists and achieved a second round of success almost 20 years later, after it was covered by Michael Andrews and Gary Jules for the 2001 Film 'Donnie Darko'. Their version was first issued on a CD with the film's soundtrack, but increasing attention spawned its release as a single. This single then became a success in late 2003, getting the UK Christmas Number One top spot that year.

A few years later in 2009, the song gained new recognition when budding star Adam Lambert covered it on American Idol. It was his most talked about performance as he turned it into a diva belting, emotional gothic ballad.

Now, at Almighty we wanted to play with that gothic feel and turn it into an Almighty classic. We have worked some of our usual magic into this song and thought Soheila would be ideal for this track, with her soft and melodic tone.
To make this single even more special, we have had the Almighty Boys back in the studio to work their magic alongside Soheila's vocals!

Our Almighty adaptation, features a different key and a more elaborate vocal line, making this song both haunting and beautiful, just how it was intended!
